My wife and I are proud pet parents to three persian cats – Ikru, Boo, and Auro. Two of our cats – Boo (1.0), and Kiku passed away in 2021, counting them, we have had five cats altogether.
I absolutely love cats. They are fiercely independent, strong, and creative beings. They are playful and casual. They have an attitude, and they are absolute joy to be with. For a pet parent, cats are low maintenance; they take care of themselves, all they need is food and water. And of course routine things such as doctor visits.
I had always wanted a pet growing up, but my parents never agreed. In fact, they weren’t fond of animals at all. It remained to be a pain in my heart. I was glad enough to get a pet lover of a wife (at any given time, Archana’s home has at least four cats). The moment we got our own apartment, the first thing we did was to get pets. Ikru came came first, Boo – his own brother, came next.
Ikru and Boo stayed with us for four years, and we lived happily. In February 2021, we got Kiku, a two year old female cat. We lost Boo first and Kiku next to the deadly Feline Panleukopenia Virus. We adopted Boo 2.0 (whom we also fondly call Cubby or Oui Oui) – a doppelgänger to Boo 1.0 in March 2021, a week after Boo 1.0’s passing, followed by Auro (whom we also call Puggy) in May 2021.
Today, we are a big happy family of 5, and our cats are literally our kids. They complete us and add colors to our life.
So to finally answer today’s bloganuary prompt, my favorite animal is – no points for guessing, the cat!
