Bloganuary Day 3: What colleges have you attended?

Daily writing prompt
What colleges have you attended?

I love today’s prompt. I have shared a lot of posts in this blog and my other one, on college. In fact, I started blogging at college too, and I have a lot of memories from that period.

For today’s prompt, I would like to talk about a college where I am currently enrolled. In fact, I will continue to be enrolled in that college for a long time, and will be a part of it for the foreseeable future. This is a college that has imparted me (and continues to impart me) knowledge in the most practical way possible.

No points for guessing, I’m talking about the School of Hard Knocks, University of Life.

Yes, this giant educational institution called Life itself.

I came across this usage in Facebook a while ago where someone said referred to this as their alma mater. I found it a bit cheeky and even interesting, and let it slide. But as time passed, my mind went back to that phrasing.

Life is the biggest college, and it is the biggest teacher. It teaches something no college or university can ever match. Its lessons are in the form of experiences. Sometimes the most negative experiences teach you the best life lessons. In that sense, 2023 was such an excellent year during my tenure as the lifelong student of this university! I’m grateful for all these learnings, as they will stand by me in good stead as I take my baby steps into this new year, which is already three day old.

And I’m all set to embrace a new year in this University of Life!

This post was written as part of the Bloganuary challenge of WordPress.com. Bloganuary is a month-long challenge, where bloggers are challenged to write a new blog post every day, based on a daily writing prompt. You will need a WordPress.com account to get the prompts, but you can blog on any platform of your choice – OR even journal privately. Oh btw, there is no bloganuary police – so you can pick your own prompts if you wish to!
